Tom grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and now lives in the East Village with his husband and dog. He didn’t grow up very outdoorsy, but was delighted to discover his love for the outdoors later in life. His first hike in the Catskills was with Adventure Untamed in 2021 (Hunter and Southwest Hunter) and he’s been was hooked right away, hiking and backpacking across the Northeast and in the Rockies ever since.
When he’s not adventuring outdoors, Tom works with young people as a high school math teacher and assistant principal in New York City. He’s also co-guided an expedition for teenagers in the Four Corners region.
