This is a remote-wilderness hike to a quiet woodland summit, but don’t be deceived by its tranquility.  Peekamoose Mountain features the steepest ascent of the entire Catskills!  On the way to the summit we’ll pass Reconnoiter Rock, which looks precariously balanced but probably hasn’t moved in 10,000 years, since being deposited there by melting glaciers.
This is a required peak for Catskill 3500 Club Membership and #12 Catskill Tall Peak (elevation 3,819′).
