Catskill 3500: Southwest Hunter via Sprucetown Road
For today’s adventure we are tackling Southwest Hunter Mountain! While all Catskill 3500 peaks are challenging, we are taking a gentler route to the top, so we can enjoy our time on the trail. We’ll detour off the marked trail and bushwhack over to Southwest Hunter. This mountain was originally known as Leavitt’s Peak and was the last one to officially ‘join’ the Catskill 3500 Club. Will you be the first to locate its summit canister? If we are ahead of schedule, we may continue on to Hunter’s summit where we’ll visit the highest-elevation fire tower in New York State.
Southwest Hunter is a required peaks for Catskill 3500 Club Membership and #15 Catskill High Peaks (elevation 3,755’).

- We will provide any traction devices you need, but if you have your own microspikes/snowshoes/crampons, feel free to bring them
