Catskill 3500: Hunter and Southwest Hunter
Today’s adventure starts on the Devil’s Path, one of the most challenging trails in the Northeast. On our way to the top of Hunter, we’ll detour off the marked trail and bushwhack over to Southwest Hunter. This mountain was originally known as Leavitt’s Peak and was the last one to officially ‘join’ the Catskill 3500 Club. Will you be the first to locate its summit canister? We’ll then continue on to Hunter’s summit where we’ll visit the highest-elevation fire tower in New York State.
Hunter and Southwest Hunter are required peaks for Catskill 3500 Club Membership and #2 and #15 Catskill High Peaks (elevation 4,032’ and 3,755’).

Limited spots remaining
While COVID-19 remains a concern, we are limiting our van capacity to a 10-person maximum, including guides, and leaving the middle seat empty in each row. The trips have a $20 fee to accommodate the changes we need to make for the COVID protocol. The fees will only be in effect while we limit capacity on trips.
